Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton St. John's Airport

In 30 years of travelling, I’ve never stayed in such a chaotic, poorly managed hotel. Our nightmare week started with two days without hot water or breakfast. Management gave us no information beyond a piece of paper taped to the elevator, with no word on when either would return. We were left to figure things out ourselves for 48 hours. After we complained, they offered one free night. That’s insulting when we’d been left without bathing or food for two days. Then, for reasons nobody explained, someone rushed into the hotel and set off the fire alarms at 3am, waking everyone. We were moved to another room, but had to pack up at 5am. Even though paying guests had been awake for three hours in the middle of the night, they didn’t extend breakfast hours. Who is running this place? There was no humanity or compassion, just people blindly following rules. And there’s more. Our fridge had its freezer section ripped out, apparently because room fridges are only for beer, so the whole thing was actually a freezer. My child’s insulin froze overnight. Life-saving medication was destroyed by these incompetent people. The bathroom had mold and smelled like poo as soon as we arrived. I’m baffled by the five-star reviews. My guess, and it’s only a guess, is that they come from staff friends and family who use the hotel for social events. Don’t stay here. Ever.
