Beach & Breeze Cottages

The kids liked the playground, and being able to watch them from the deck was a plus. The view was good too, but the playground itself didn’t seem well maintained. The rest of the property gave me serious concerns about upkeep. There were wide gaps in the pool fence that a child could crawl through, and the deck spindles looked wide enough for a baby to fit between. The townhouse-style unit felt cramped, had odd decor, and the kitchen supplies were a random mix. Don’t expect particular utensils to be there. There was water behind the toilet, and once I took away the very strong air freshener, the place smelled like urine. The owners replied quickly to my email, said they had fixed it, and gave my husband $20 for an air freshener. The walls also seemed thin enough that we could hear the neighbours. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it to someone I like. Maybe this sounds like a lot of complaints, but they’re the things I wish I’d known before booking. I’d look elsewhere.

The location and grounds are spectacular for a family stay, and the kids loved both the pool and playground. The grounds were expertly maintained, and the heat pump cooled our cottage well. We also appreciated how friendly and accommodating Allen and his team were whenever we asked for something. Darker curtains would have helped with our baby’s sleep. We’d visited Beach and Breeze ten years ago for CBMF and recently returned with our family. The cottages seem a little run down now. Some units apparently have more kitchen gear than others: ours had no sharp knife, scissors, or frying pan, and only one wine glass, while our friends’ cottage had those things. It might just have been our unit. For the price, I’m giving it five stars, though a few small changes could make the stay better.

We came for a family reunion and stayed seven nights. The location worked perfectly, right on the water, with a pool and playground. The cottages were well maintained, the beds comfortable, and the grounds looked after nicely. The staff were so helpful too.

The Chickadee cottage had loads of room for our family of seven adults, and two bathrooms with showers were a real necessity. There were three queen beds and two twins. One bed was in a loft with little privacy, but it worked out fine. The view is incredible, and we got plenty of use out of the pool, swimming three times. We were there in September 2025 and got the off-season price, though the weather felt like summer. The cottage is rustic and very retro, with lots of little nooks and surprises. It was nice enough for what we paid. A few things were frustrating. We asked for another hand towel for the kitchen and were told there was only one per guest. We also needed oven mitts and nearly burned our hands several times while cooking. We heard odd electrical noises, which someone thought might be arcing, and blew a fuse once. Luckily, the fuse box was in the bedroom by the second bathroom, so we got things working again. There was just one small, scratched frying pan. I wish hotels wouldn’t use Teflon pans, since people scratch them with metal utensils. We had to broil our french toast and barbecue the breakfast meat because the pan was too small. Still, we had a great time and were very satisfied.
