Travelodge by Wyndham Amherst

We had seven rooms in our group, and check-in went smoothly. The staff were accommodating, breakfast had plenty of choice, and the room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, with a nice big tub. I could barely hear the highway from my drive-up room thanks to the landscaping. There was a wonderful live performance right at the hotel while I was there. I didn’t get to use the pool, but it looked clean and well maintained when I peeked in. We drove about 5-10 minutes to Duncan’s pub, which I’d recommend too. I really couldn’t ask for anything else.

We’ve stayed here several times, and the price, cleanliness, and service are what you want. Our group held a function with a pool, lunch, and meeting room. I’ve travelled extensively, and while this may not be the newest upscale place, the staff and service were beyond perfect. Travelodge Amherst, well done, and thank you.

I felt safe staying here on my own as a woman, and the location was peaceful and convenient, close to the hospital, downtown, and shopping, about a five-minute taxi ride. The RCMP station is a two-minute walk over the bridge from the gas station. That station has a Tim Horton’s drive-through or walk-in, plus a Nova Scotia liquor store attached. I was here on a work contract from May 2025 to July 2025. It’s an older hotel, but the team really makes it shine. Front desk staff, managers, housekeeping, and maintenance all went out of their way to make things comfortable. Special thanks to Sandra, who helped sort out the missing kitchenette in my room within a few days. For a longer stay, having a private in-suite kitchen is more convenient and economical. I found this was the only hotel in Amherst offering one. The rooms are spacious, the beds clean and comfortable, and there are some useful amenities you don’t often find elsewhere: private ground-floor entrances, a full-size pool, sauna, on-site washer and dryer, and a small but well-equipped gym with weights and cardio machines. I highly recommend the Travelodge if you’re staying in Amherst.

My brother and his girlfriend stayed here with a group of ATV riders in October 2025. One couple found bedbugs and showed the staff photos. The other couples in the group got refunds, but my brother and his girlfriend didn’t. He was charged for a room they didn’t even sleep in. It’s disgusting on every level. Maybe the media would want to hear about this, since it seems this isn’t the first time bedbugs have been found.
