Eastwest Hotel

The whole hotel was very clean, with fantastic facilities and a great location for walks by the lake or getting around the city. We were greeted on arrival by a lovely, very helpful receptionist, who deserves 5*. The next day, a different receptionist wearing glasses seemed unhappy to see customers and was curt with people. Aside from that, everything was great. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

At the right price, this can be a decent mid-tier stay. The location is excellent, near the train station and only a three-minute walk from the beautiful waterfront. The red light district is nearby, too. Our rooms were very clean, the bathroom had been updated, and the soundproofing between rooms was quite good. A hotel reply in the reviews included a code that got us free breakfast, which helped make the price worthwhile. Don’t expect luxury just because of the SLH collection. The rooms are dated, with badly creaking floors, noise from guests above, and poor soundproofing to the hall. Breakfast quality was good, though not great, and over four mornings nothing changed, even the loaf flavor. Staff service was mixed. About half the time they replied to our restaurant reservation emails within 15 minutes; the rest of the time we had to follow up the next day. Checkout took around 10 minutes, and at first staff thought we had to pay for breakfast even though it was included.

The location is perfect, and we felt safe walking around at night, even with the nearby red light district. Our room looked a little dated but was very clean. Upgrading to the Junior Suite was worth it: it was spacious, had a living area, and felt tucked away inside the building. The hotel was very nice and reasonably priced.

It was a comfortable, convenient place for a few days, and the small room was just right for that. It was clean and well maintained, with a good hair dryer and Wi-Fi that worked well. The Clarins shampoo and bath soap were a nice touch, and we appreciated the complimentary Toblerone and mints each day. There were three coffee capsules and some tea, but no complimentary bottled water. The lifts were a bit tight, though manageable.
