ibis Styles Genève Mont-Blanc

We hadn't stayed with Ibis before and were pleasantly surprised by the space. This was the biggest room and bathroom we'd had in Switzerland so far. There's plenty of clothing storage on a shelving unit in the room, plus a wide shelf under the sink for toiletries. The queen bed was comfortable, and they brought extra pillows as soon as we asked. Geneva was unusually hot, around 90F, and the AC worked well. There are three fan settings, and we set the temperature to its coolest. That mattered especially since Swiss hotels seem to use down comforters even in summer, sometimes without AC, which doesn't make sense to us. Breakfast is in the small lobby downstairs. There was a decent choice of breads and pastries, some meat and cheese, jam, and fruit salad. The scrambled eggs were a bit dry, but the meal was good overall, not amazing. A self-service coffee machine is available around the clock, and the coffee in the breakfast room was good. Wi-Fi was strong, and the desk staff were polite and helpful. The location is handy: Cornevin train station is a five-to-eight-minute walk away, with plenty of decent restaurants and bars nearby. During our visit the World Cup soccer matches were on, so lots of places were packed with people watching. It takes about ten minutes to walk to the lake and fifteen to the old town. We were happy with our stay and thought it was great value.
