Hostal Belen

The low price was a plus, but I felt a bit unwelcome. The night staff member played music late and had around ten alarms go off overnight. I could hear all of it.

Right in the colonial city, and a lovely place with a good breakfast.

The place was small and very clean, and the tamale at the corner café was delicious. We had to wait more than half an hour for someone to answer the door when we arrived. We stayed two nights, and since it was rainy season, our wet things never dried. There's an electric shower, but no fridge in the kitchen. The man who welcomed us doesn't live on-site.

The rooms and facilities are quite basic and not modern, but the service from the receptionists was excellent. They were friendly, attentive, and answered our questions and needs. We also appreciated being able to keep food that needed refrigeration in their fridge. Having free parking on-site is a priority for us, and the location worked well too: close enough to walk to the city center, while away from the commercial area's bustle, traffic, and parking problems.
