Meininger Hotel Berlin Tiergarten

The beds were comfortable and the bedding lovely and soft. It’s more like a hostel, and there’s no A/C. Our room had a fan, but either it didn’t work or it was so useless it made no difference. During the heat wave, the room got very hot with four of us in it, and leaving the window open meant dealing with a noisy part of town. The location is good for cheap food and transport.

The kitchen was clean and well equipped, with basics like salt, oil, and aluminium foil. It was handy for washing our travel mugs, bottles, and sippy cups, and we ate several meals there. It got busy now and then over the holidays, but we could always use it. We were worried about noise from other reviews, but even with several school groups there, everyone was respectful and it wasn’t a problem for us. The room was clean and had everything we needed, and staff were friendly and always available. Meininger Tiergarten was perfect for us as a young family and exceeded our expectations. The dryer took longer than expected, and a couple of machines in the games area were broken. Still, it was a great choice and excellent value. We’d definitely come back, thank you!

The guest kitchen has a fridge for storing food, and nearby supermarkets and coffee shops make it easy to find something to eat. It can get quite busy, but if you shift your mealtimes you can have it to yourself. The hostel is convenient, close enough to the centre for sightseeing and with easy access to the central station. It’s also practical for getting to the half marathon and marathon start lines. There are parks and the river nearby too, good for getting some miles in.

The breakfast was a good buffet, and booking on the website was easy. We stayed for two days in a triple room, and everything was clean and laid out well. The staff were friendly. They forgot sheets for one bed, but reception sorted it easily. The place is cashless, which can be irritating. Good value and conveniently located near transport and the centre. A good choice.
