Check-in and checkout were straightforward, and the rooms were clean. They provided hand soap and shower gel, plus a small fan, though it wouldn’t be enough in real heat. There was no tea, coffee, or water in the room, and breakfast wasn’t available. They had a bar with a proper coffee machine and tables nearby, but the machine wasn’t being used or offered as an option. Restaurants and other places are walkable, though nothing was open on Sunday morning.

There’s an affordable hotel on the third and fourth floors in West Berlin, about a five-minute walk from the Berlin S-Bahn station. The elevator was out of order when I visited, so I had to haul my luggage up to the fourth floor. Other than that, things were mostly good.

The only thing they did well was cleaning. The Wi-Fi didn’t work, the keys didn’t work either, and when I went to reception there was nobody there. The mattresses were unbelievably bad, and every noise from other rooms came through. If you want even a little peace, don’t come here.

I’ve never stayed at a worse hotel. It cost 90 euro without breakfast, and there was no coffee or tea in the room. The window was broken, the sink clogged, the bathroom was bad, the side lamp didn’t work, and the safe was broken. No sandals either. What a waste.
