Sixmiles Guesthouse

Five double rooms share one bathroom, and the other guests were loud. There were random notes all over the apartment, and the place didn't feel worth the price. The website has a three-page manual that wasn't emailed to me. If I'd received it within 24 hours of booking, I would have cancelled. My flight changed and I arrived after checkout time, but the guy wouldn't be flexible. He sent a passive-aggressive email saying I needed to find somewhere else and wouldn't get a refund. Changing both tickets cost me an extra $49 each, plus $25 each for transport to a nearby airport, about $150 extra in total. He also doesn't answer calls or texts. If you need to reach him, you'll have to search the internet for his email address and hope he replies.

Peter was a perfect host, and the room was clean and spacious with great facilities. The location is hard to beat: less than a two-minute walk from the Brandenburg gate, the site of Hitler's bunker, a Tim Raue spinoff restaurant, a bicycle cafe, the tiergarten, many manjor embassies, and plenty more. I recommend his place without reservation.

My train was delayed, and after 6 pm there weren't many places left, so I had to find more expensive accommodation. I tried calling the guesthouse several times between 4 and 7 pm, but couldn't reach anyone. They never called back, despite my request and the mobile number I'd left again. Their terms said they were available until 9 pm. Then Check24 sent me a written message from Sixmiles saying I couldn't stay after 9 pm. I'd booked two nights through Sixmiles. The next day I asked the owner why the guesthouse had been unreachable, and Mr. Jensen angrily showed me the door and demanded I leave despite my booking. Unacceptable. No further comment needed.

Very clean and spacious, with lots of useful things like several towels, a hair dryer in the room, and a desk. The neighborhood felt very safe, and everything was close by.
