Hotel Windsor

The staff were genuinely warm, friendly, and helpful, and a little cake was waiting in our room when we checked in. The room was cozy, quiet, and thoughtfully done, with lovely English-style touches. The bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up in the morning. Hotel Windsor in Düsseldorf exceeded my expectations. Its English decor has loads of warmth and character, and it felt like being in a charming old-English corner, nothing like a soulless modern hotel. I’d love to return with my partner on our next Düsseldorf trip. If you want character and charm, I can’t recommend the Windsor enough.

They’ve adjusted the AirBnB calendar so the specific night I’m trying to book is available for check-out only, while every date before and after it can be booked with check-in. So they clearly saw my message and chose to ignore it. The owners also advertise on AirBnB, and they forgot to put up inflated prices for the dates BSB is in town, €434 for a room when it’s only €69 on AirBnB. They haven’t replied to me at all, not even with a message. What a joke.

Internet didn’t work while my husband and I needed it for 2 days of work, so we had to find our own solutions. The women working there weren’t very friendly, and they were only around for a few hours a day. Later, nobody was there. One upside was that a late check-out caused no problems. The hotel is fairly clean and has some charm if you like the old English style, but some basics are missing. There’s no water available, bottled or otherwise, and no kettle anywhere in the hotel. When I caught the lady there during the day and asked for boiled water to take medicine, she seemed unhappy and commented about people damaging devices. Later, when I needed water for my medicine in the evening, nobody was around, and the kettle was locked in the inaccessible kitchen. I won’t come back.

The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the hotel had plenty of charm. Breakfast was good, and parking was convenient. You can walk to the city centre from here.
