Hotel Aurelia

Mr Leo made our stop especially pleasant, he was so friendly and helpful. We were driving from Zurich to Amsterdam and stayed one night. For the low price, the hotel was quite good, and our room was clean and roomy enough. There’s a Lidl right across the street.

The area seemed safe to me, though colleagues raised their eyebrows when I told them which district I was staying in. The S5 would have been convenient, but because of a strike I had to walk to the U7 to get to the office. There was no in-person contact, everything was handled over WhatsApp, which worked fine, though that might bother some people. The street-facing front door appeared to be open, and the rooms were on the ground floor, which could concern some travelers. I booked through booking.com two months ahead for a work trip and paid €162 for a Wednesday night, which felt very expensive. The room was adequate for one night, but small, dated, and basic, more like a 1-2 star place. It was cold when I arrived, with the window open, though it eventually warmed up. The floor was tiled. There was a TV, but it was unplugged and the remote was missing its battery cover, so I wasn’t sure it worked. The bathroom door handle was loose, the shower head leaked, and the mixer tap was very sensitive.

The breakfast was hot and excellent, and both the room and bathroom were very clean and well stocked. We were impressed by how friendly and helpful everyone was. The owner welcomed us at check-in and personally walked us to our rooms. We came for the New Year's celebrations and found the location really convenient. Rödelheim station is only a couple of minutes away on foot, and Frankfurt main station is about 10 minutes by train. There are several grocery stores nearby too. Our stay was comfortable and pleasant, and we really appreciated the personal attention from the staff. I highly recommend this hotel.

Leo was amazing for our one night in town for the Euro England game. He met us when we arrived and explained everything about the basic hotel, which was just what we wanted. We asked for a taxi number, but he offered to take us into town in his car, which was right outside. Along the way, he pointed out a few things. Thank you, Leo.
