Hotel City Kräme am Römer

We waited about an hour after arriving before we finally got into our room, with help from Hotel Miramar. There was no receptionist, no one to assist, no self check-in equipment, and not even a basic sign with instructions or an emergency number. None of the hotel phone numbers listed online worked. One of us called a US number we found through the booking and ran up a hefty overseas bill while waiting; another asked people nearby for help and was eventually told the receptionist at Hotel Miramar might be able to assist. Only then did we receive an email with the room number and code. That message should have arrived before we got there. Avoid this place.

I booked at the last minute and wasn’t expecting much, but the room was far worse than I imagined. It smelled like an ashtray, and I felt I’d get cancer if I didn’t open the window. With no staffed reception, someone made a racket from 6 to 9 am and even knocked on my door. There were a few ants in the room too. Don’t stay here.

The window looked out onto an unpleasant area, with lots of birds making noise all night and bird droppings around. Several things in the room were broken: the hair dryer, heater, shower, toilet, sink, and locker. The main door didn’t shut tightly, so hallway light came into the room at night. I won’t stay at this hotel again.

The room was dirty, with hair in the shower and dried dirt on the curtain. There was also noise from work above the ceiling, and it continued at night. Even in the summer heat, at 28°C or more, the heater was on and its control knob didn’t work. After a long day, the room was too hot to sleep in. The service number didn’t work, or nobody answered when it did, and my message was ignored. Unless you’re stranded with no other options, I’d stay well away.
