Hotel Rossija

We paid 200 CHF for two nights, and I’d have preferred sleeping on a different street. My husband and I had a terrible stay at Hotel Rossija in Frankfurt, and it ruined our trip. It’s in the middle of the red-light district, with people using drugs and women offering sexual services all around. We had to ring for entry, then wait ages for staff to respond while standing in an environment that felt potentially unsafe. The inside was filthy: stained sheets, dirty towels, broken sockets, and generally unsanitary conditions. It also seemed to be used as an hourly hotel for the people outside. A woman approached my husband inside and asked if he wanted to sleep with her. This place felt like a health hazard. I wouldn’t give it even one star. Avoid it, and report it to the booking platform if you had the same experience.

We only managed one night here. If we’d found anywhere else, we never would have picked it, and I don’t think staying longer would have been possible. The room was dirty, with soiled sheets, empty bottles on the floor, and bed bugs. Outside, there was noise constantly, so sleeping was almost impossible. The location is handy for the train station and Frankfurt center, but only if you’re comfortable with the red-light district and an area that can feel dangerous. I strongly don’t recommend this place.

The reception workers were friendly, and that’s the only reason I’m giving two stars. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The street is entirely devoted to sex businesses, with sex workers all along it, and it feels very unsafe, especially after 8 pm. There are people who are drunk or high, homeless people, and constant shouting among them. At night, you can hear women screaming while having sex. There is security at the entrance, but the rooms aren’t cleaned. Mine smelled bad, had no air conditioning or fan, no kettle, no safe, and a TV that didn’t work. No one understood English. The rate was an excessive 50 euros a night, even after the MasterCard discount. I don’t know why MasterCard recognizes this as a hotel partner, and I find that disappointing. This is just my personal experience. I’m sorry, and I hope my English is correct.

We didn’t even feel safe getting out of the taxi, especially since I’m disabled. There were people using drugs everywhere, and sex shops nearby. The driver looked at us and asked, “You’re actually staying here?” It was scary, so we left the area and went straight to our next destination. I can’t say what the inside was like because we never went in. Before that, we’d called from the airport for a shuttle and were told one was being sent. We waited two hours and nobody came, so we finally took a taxi. My sister booked it because the photos on Booking.com looked nothing like this place, apparently stock photos, and she hadn’t seen the many reviews describing it as nasty. I don’t advise staying here.
