Academy Lodge Boardinghouse

The room felt welcoming and was very clean, with comfortable beds, a bottle of water, and a kettle for tea or coffee. They’d even left gummy bears on the bed as a welcome gift. We could park right at the hotel, and the price was excellent for what we got. The standout was the woman who answered the phone. She was incredibly friendly, answered all our questions right away, knew what she was talking about, and had a great sense of humour. No waiting on hold. We’ll be back.

For a clean room and comfortable bed in Hamburg, this was reasonably priced, especially considering its exclusive, very expensive location. The best part of this “online hotel,” where I didn’t meet a single person, was the woman on the phone. She was extremely friendly and helpful when I booked, and later when I couldn’t find the key box. Human interaction really is the best.

The room was small but really clean and comfortable, and the location near Elbchaussee was lovely and very quiet. The tram stop is a 10-minute walk away. Check-in and checkout were self-service and went smoothly. I’d book again.

The key safe failed to open once even though I entered the right PIN. I called support and had help in less than a minute. The service was fast and very competent, and the rooms were spotless. It’s about a five-minute walk to the nearest S-Bahn. There’s free parking for around 12 cars, which is a real help in Hamburg. I’m completely satisfied and can wholeheartedly recommend the hotel :)
