Hotel Village

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and I liked having a balcony. Hotel Village was a mixed stay for me, though. There's no elevator, which makes the fourth floor a challenge if you're carrying luggage. The bathroom is open to the room, so it doesn't offer much privacy. The shower leaked underneath and the faucet dripped, and I could clearly hear noises from neighboring rooms. There were no slippers, which I think may be common in many hotels here. There also wasn't an individual bedside light, so switching off the light meant turning off all the lights in the room. It's a decent place, but a few changes could make it more comfortable.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the train station is within walking distance. But the area felt strange, with drugs and homeless people around. No lift, a small room, and carpets everywhere even in summer. There was red velvet around too. I wouldn't recommend it.

We felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome that we left straight away. When we arrived, people near the entrance were openly using drugs, and the receptionist was smoking, leaving the lobby with a horrible smell. The rooms were filthy and far below what I'd expect from a hotel. The staff also came across as unprofessional and unwelcoming. I wouldn't recommend staying here. I hope management improves the cleanliness and atmosphere for future guests.

The room had a lovely kitschy design, and the staff were great. It was a good experience overall. Hamburg was super hot, though, and the lack of AC was a downside.
