Buff Medical Resort

The 7-day Fasting Pure program left me feeling clearer and more rested, with useful advice for carrying on at home. I felt guided and supported the whole time. Everyone working at Buff was friendly and helpful, which made the stay especially good. The lake setting is lovely, the food is excellent, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. I also really enjoyed the pool and spa. I felt calm and welcomed from the moment I arrived. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to work on their health in a thoughtful, supportive place.

This is the most advanced medical resort we’ve ever visited, simply amazing. The treatments and facilities, along with such a great staff, made for an incredible stay.

I left Buff Medical Resort exhausted, medicated, and in such bad shape that I couldn’t sit or lie down without severe pain. My driver had to take me back to Switzerland with my legs raised, stopping every twenty minutes on the motorway so I could walk. My own doctor prescribed Tramadol, and it took me two full weeks to recover from a stay that was supposed to be for wellness. I had booked ten nights for a routine Mayr cure, weight loss, and rejuvenation. Buff was new, about an hour from Zurich Airport, and advertised as a pristine five-star medical wellness sanctuary. I relied on that marketing and didn’t look into what was happening behind the scenes. My daily care was assigned to Dr. Valentina Slunjski, whose background, I learned, is neurology rather than metabolism, gastroenterology, or nutrition. Under her supervision, I was put on an extreme fast of only clear broth and tea. By day three, I had severe pain from my hip to my knee and sudden bleeding, like a menstrual period, although I have not menstruated for many years. I asked Dr. Slunjski to reduce the fast to a standard Mayr level, but she refused and prescribed painkillers on an empty stomach. The pain worsened and kept me awake much of the night. After the fourth day of treatment, I was given a mix of painkillers, again on an empty stomach, and vomited violently. At 4:00 AM I had to be rushed to the Konstanz Hospital emergency room. The resort physician who handled the crisis that night was Dr. Tihamer Molnar, a cardiology specialist. The next day, a second opinion at the University Hospital Zurich found my blood work normal and confirmed that the extreme fasting had caused the agonizing emergency and systemic shock. At checkout, Dr. Koppel also confirmed there was a problem inside the resort. She acknowledged that Dr. Slunjski’s personal regimen was extreme, saying she herself “only eats once a week, and protein only,” conceded I would likely never return, and said I should be reimbursed for the four nights I hadn’t used. I left after six nights instead of ten. When I requested the refund for those four unused nights, the resort’s response was contradictory. I received a defensive letter co-signed by the owner, Mr. Hans Jürg Buff, and Medical Director Dr. med. Claas Hohmann. The resort promotes Dr. Hohmann’s background as a former Vivamayr physician and certified FX Mayr expert, but I never saw or was examined by him during my stay. Based on a retrospective file review, he and the owner called my violent vomiting and agonizing pain a “known accompanying effect” of cleansing and blamed it on “pre-existing physical conditions.” I have no medical history or chronic illnesses, and had not been hospitalized since giving birth. Mr. Leon Abt, their representative, then confirmed in writing that they had my bank details and would refund the four accommodation nights within seven days. The money never came. On the last day of the deadline, they instead offered an unwanted voucher for a resort they knew I would not return to. When I call now, Mr. Abt is “out of the office for several weeks.” They broke their written promise and are withholding payment for services never provided. I arrived healthy, looking for self-care. I booked Buff because it was new and nearby, and because of how it presented itself.

We did a 14-day program with my mother, and it changed both our lives. The Buff family and BuffMed staff are remarkable, with impressive resumes as well as real compassion and care. Each day brought more growth and a deeper sense of peace for us. The team was incredible, the location stunning, and the medical technology state of the art. The spa and services were glowing, too. Highly recommend for anyone hoping to improve their health and well-being.
