Four Points by Sheraton Munich Arabellapark

The friendly front desk welcomed me on my business trip and upgraded me to a suite. It was spacious, and the living room furniture and bedding looked clean and inviting, though the room clearly showed its age. The staff were friendly, but the overall stay left a poor impression because housekeeping and follow-through fell short. The sink area and toilet were clean, but the bathroom wasn't well maintained. There were spiderwebs by the window, with a large dead spider, and visible splash marks on the wall near the toilet. I reported it to the front desk the next morning and was told housekeeping would take care of it. When I returned that evening, nothing had changed. On my first night, I called reception because there was no cutlery in the room. They said they'd bring some up, but after waiting 20 minutes while my meal got cold, I went downstairs and fetched it myself. There were also marks on the door that looked like someone had tried to force it open in the past.

The room was so cold we had to sleep in our outdoor clothes. It felt like stepping outside when we crossed from the hallway into the room. The radiator under the window didn't work, and the ventilation stayed noisy and blew cold air even with the air conditioning off. We'd accepted that the rooms were old and very worn, and put up with the unreasonable parking price, but the cold was too much.

I should have told my staff that I don't take midnight flights. I've had trouble sleeping since I was young, so I was really impressed that Julia at Sheraton let me check in at 8:30 in the morning. I needed a room for daily virtual meetings, so I had booked rooms at Sheraton and Westin at the same time. Westin said I could only check in after lunch. After a quick wash, I felt refreshed. Thanks again, Julia. You're a great host. I'm signing up as a Bonvoy member now.

The rooms are great and the staff are polite. Having a REWE supermarket next to the hotel is convenient for guests. The elevators are the one drawback: they're small and can get pretty crowded.
