Hotel Metropol by Maier Privathotels

The rooms are fabulous, and breakfast is excellent, with lots of choice. There’s also a coffee machine for espresso and cappuccino available around the clock, which is a real bonus. It’s a cute little hotel, just a five-minute walk from the central train station and about 20 minutes to Marienplatz. You can’t beat that location. If I return to Munich, I’d stay here again without hesitation. Thanks to the welcoming staff!

The 24/7 complimentary coffee, tea, and water were a nice touch, and the rooms have hair dryers with diffusers for anyone with curly hair. They also have heating and air conditioning, with instructions in both German and English. We stayed at the Metropol from 12/23 - 12/25. The staff were so, so kind, which feels rare as an American tourist in Germany. They really wanted to make our stay as good as possible. We checked our bags before the room was ready, and they brought them up for us, printed my tickets, and gave us a free drink. Every stay includes a complimentary drink at their bar.

For getting around, the location is hard to beat: the hotel is 200 meters from Hauptbahnhof, about a five-minute walk from a metro station, and roughly 15 minutes on foot from the city center. We found the hotel basic, but full of thoughtful details. Real flowers in pots, not artificial ones, were in the rooms and lobby, and candles at breakfast helped make the place feel warm and stylish. The rooms were clean and well kept. Free tea and coffee are available in the lobby at all hours. If you book directly through the hotel website, you’re welcomed with a complimentary drink, a lovely touch. Breakfast was stunning, especially the cheese selection, which could rival many restaurants. There was a way to make fresh vegetable juice, along with a great selection of teas, pastries, and snacks. Everything tasted fresh and was thoughtfully laid out. I can definitely recommend this hotel for a single night or a longer stay exploring Munich. It’s a great mix of location, comfort, and charming details.

It was a clean, quiet hotel and had everything we needed. The staff were all really friendly and helped whenever we asked. We’d happily return. It’s also very handy if you’re taking the train to Munich, just a five-minute walk from the station, with underground and subway connections to wherever you need to go. Or you can walk to the old town in about 15 minutes.
