The service quickly brought us an extra blanket when we asked, and there were more supplies in the basement. Our room was nice and had everything we needed. It was rather loud outside and not the best part of Munich, though you can easily walk into the city center. We were happy with the hotel.

The room was a cozy place to recharge, and it had the essentials I needed since I spent most of my time out seeing the city. Marienplatz is about a 20-minute walk away. Parking takes more planning: the closest garage is around 10 minutes on foot, and there’s no street parking.

The bed was comfortable and fairly large, and check-in went smoothly. The room and bathroom were both small, though the room had what I needed. I also couldn’t see much use for the tables and chairs by the entrance except as a place to wait for an Uber. They could be more useful as a work area if there were sockets. The coffee shop next door was quite inaccessible, if you know, you know. The location is handy for the city centre, but I found the neighborhood dirty and smelly, with people smoking around the streets. I’m 1.90m tall and still felt uncomfortable at times, so I can imagine a woman returning to her room at night might feel that way too. More than once, people stood smoking right in front of the entrance, so getting inside meant walking through cigarette smoke and asking them to move. Opening the windows made things worse: within five minutes the room smelled of cigarettes and kebab, then a touch of car exhaust. That was completely unacceptable. Cleanliness also let things down. The main panel at the entrance looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned for months, the kitchen seemed to have gone weeks without a clean, and I found a hair on my pillow when I arrived. I had a first-floor room and didn’t use the elevator, so it took me seven days to discover that cleaning and sheet changes had to be requested explicitly on WhatsApp. That could have been explained more clearly. I won’t return, and I think there are better options in Munich. I know the Numa brand and have stayed at several of its properties around Europe, so I hope the service improves for future guests. I wish you the best.

The area has plenty of good restaurants just steps away, and we felt safe despite people smoking on the street. There are many Turkish residents and a few shisha bars nearby. The location was a real highlight: a short walk from the train station, with the Old Town and Theresienwiese also within walking distance. During our visit, Tollwood was at Theresienwiese, which is also where Oktoberfest is held. We stayed 12 nights and found the room small but in fantastic condition. It had a modern bathroom, two hot plates, a full-size fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, Nespresso machine, and kettle, so self-catering for a longer stay was easy. Room service was only once a week, but the essentials cabinet in the basement was always well stocked with towels, coffee pods, bathmats, milk, and other basics. Staff were around in the mornings while cleaning and could answer questions. It’s a modern setup somewhere between a regular hotel and an Airbnb: there’s no reception, all doors use key codes, and you get your code on check-in day. For questions, WhatsApp worked smoothly. A bot responded first, then passed us to a person quickly, and our questions were resolved without much delay. The basement also has a washer and dryer, operated through an app, which worked well. One change I’d like to see is a separate PIN for the room to improve security. I’d happily stay again.

The room was clean, with a little kitchenette, fridge-freezer and microwave, and the shower was great. Lockers in the building were handy on departure day and available until 8pm. We did find the heating hard to control, which Numa already knew about, and the room got a bit stuffy. We didn’t hear any noise from the construction across the street. We had a great three-day break at Numa St Paul. Pre-arrival check-in was straightforward, and the building and room codes arrived on the morning we got there as promised. Communication stayed good throughout. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk to Munich HBF and 20-25 minutes to the Old Town, with plenty of public transport if you’d rather not walk. Locals call the neighborhood “Little Istanbul.” We felt fine there and found some lovely cafés nearby. Just use the usual city precautions at night. We’d definitely come back and try another of Numas properties.
