El Ghanami Hotel

There were cockroaches in the rooms, a sewage smell, and the place wasn’t very clean. The air conditioning didn’t work, and breakfast was poor. Sauna, fitness, and laundry service were advertised, but none of them were available. There were cats everywhere, so keep that in mind if you’re allergic. There are a few nicer hotels nearby. Don’t choose El Ghanami.

I accidentally paid for an extra day, but a manager called SAID, who remembered me from when I was a kid, refunded the 8000 dinars. I appreciate his honesty, and I’ll come back. The location is very central in Algiers, at LABOURS SQUARE 1ST OF MAY, close to the metro and Algiers port. Some of the front desk staff were decent, especially the night shift, who were great and nice to talk to. Salam salam.

The breakfast was poor, just milk, coffee, croissant, water, and the “Daily” juice. Also, when a guest leaves the key behind, that means no one should go into the room, including for cleaning. I respect the very nice cleaning ladies, but there’s no need to knock every morning. The rooms were super clean, with fresh towels and sheets. The metro is very close, and the reception staff were welcoming.

It’s only three minutes from 1er Mai metro station, and the building is new with an elevator. The room was great for the price. Breakfast was minimal, with no omelette. I’d recommend it and return whenever I have business in algiers.
