MLL Blue Bay Hotel

The room was dirty when we arrived, with dusty floors that clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. The sheets didn't smell fresh, and the tiny bathroom was filthy. There were black and yellow stains on the bathtub walls, marks on the shower curtain, and dried mucus stains in the sink on our first day. It was also clogged and wouldn't drain properly. Housekeeping only changed towels and made the bed during our stay. They didn't clean the floor or the rest of the room. There was just one small soap to use for hands and body, and we had to buy shampoo separately from a vending machine. The hotel didn't provide free bottled water either. We paid €2 each time for a small bottle from the machine at reception, which felt unacceptable in the heat. There was no mini fridge in the room. Parking cost an extra €10 a day, even though the parking area was just an open street below the hotel. The poolside restaurant served frozen paella for €13-15, disappointing for a Spanish hotel. The nice view and friendly staff were the only positives that helped us put up with the stay a little. Overall it was terrible, and I'll never return to MLL Blue Bay Hotel in Palma. The room key card stopped working several times, adding to an already stressful stay. We'd paid for a larger room, but were given one that was noticeably smaller and didn't match the online description or pictures. At 2 a.m. on our first night, the receptionist came to our room because a neighbor had complained that we were smoking on the balcony. We hadn't known it was forbidden, since it wasn't clearly explained anywhere. Being approached that late felt intrusive and frightening, and startled both me and my sister. Smoking is only allowed at the bar by the pool and in front of the hotel on the street. I saw plenty of people smoking on balconies, but we were told we couldn't. Breakfast was uncomfortable too. After eating, we each took a coffee, and I picked up an apple to take with me. A staff member said nothing could be taken out of the dining area unless we paid extra, specifically €0.50 for the apple. It felt unnecessary. All of this fell far below what we'd expected. The room mix-up, rules that weren't clearly communicated, the way the issue was handled, and the technical problems really affected our holiday. We wouldn't stay here again.

Raquel was a good person and helped us with everything. We had a very good vacation at this hotel, with a nice sea view and plenty of things to do.

The view from our room on the 7th floor was fantastic, and we had a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly and helpful in every situation. It was also one of the cheapest hotels near Palma that I found, so I'm surprised it has such a low rating. Breakfast was the best part. It was included in our booking, and everything I tried was delicious. They added a different dish each day, so we got to taste some Spanish food too, and the buffet was replenished regularly. I'd give it 5/5.
