Nixe Palace Hotel

We had a relaxing, elegant stay at Nixe Palace, with comfortable rooms and excellent facilities. Its beachfront setting gives you beautiful views of the turquoise water and coastline, and breakfast was a real highlight, with lots of choice and the ocean right there. Palma is also only about a 10-minute Uber ride away. A perfect pick for a luxurious beach stay in Mallorca.

The main courses were a real letdown and far below what I’d expect at this level, though the starters were very good. We spent around €250 on lunch at Nixe Palace on New Year’s Day. Our waitress was friendly, but the restaurant seemed badly understaffed. Plates from earlier tables sat uncleared for too long, and seagulls kept swooping onto the balcony to get the leftover food. That’s not what I’d expect at a five-star hotel. The worst part came after lunch. I was getting into the lift with my wife and our six-month-old baby when the tall, dark-haired doorman blocked the doors and shouted that we couldn’t take the lift down to the beach unless we went to reception to “register.” It felt aggressive and rude, woke our baby, and left us confused. Reception then had to confirm we’d spent €250 at lunch before letting us use the lift. By then our baby was awake and crying, though reception ultimately confirmed we could go down. At a hotel like Nixe Palace, this treatment was shocking, even if it might be expected at some busy beach hotels in high summer. Between the service problems, the disappointing mains, and how we were treated as paying guests with a baby, I don’t want to return.

The beach is sandy and right by the hotel, and the pool area has a good range of food, from fresh salads to pizza. Our superior room had a balcony and sea view, and was a great size. The staff were friendly and helpful. With everything so easy to reach, it was simple to relax. We came in mid-October with our 4.5-year-old and wanted an easy, comfortable break in a good location at a fair price. The No. 4 bus stops outside and runs every 10 minutes, with Palma’s main area, Jaune 111, about 25 minutes away. It costs 2 euros per adult. Porto-pi shopping centre, including a large supermarket for essentials, is 10 minutes away. Make sure breakfast is included. It’s an amazing way to start the day, with lots of options, including gluten-free choices and dairy-free milk, all with a sea view. I’ve travelled a lot and this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. It ticks so many boxes, and I don’t understand some of the negative reviews.

The hotel’s location made it easy to walk to restaurants and cafes in Cala Major, and downtown Palma was only a quick 10-minute drive. The view is spectacular, and the rooms and property were clean, modern, and well kept. We stayed at Hotel Nixe Palace for five nights, seven adults and one toddler in our group. The staff were so friendly and kind, especially with our toddler. During our visit we had a medical emergency, and they handled a scary situation with professionalism and compassion, making it much easier for us. We’re very grateful, and I can’t recommend the hotel highly enough.
