Appart'hôtel Odalys City - Dijon Centre Les Cordeliers

The hotel is right in town, and check-in was easy and convenient. Staff knew a lot about places to park and eat. There’s a small driveway where you can pull in to check in and unload, but the offsite parking is a five to ten minute drive away.

The front desk staff treated us so well that I’m giving two stars, though honestly this should have been one. We visited in August, when it was 34 degrees, and our first room had no air conditioning. It was nearly impossible to sleep, and we were especially worried about our pet. When we reported it, they moved us to another room with AC, and that’s when we found out some rooms have it. But the toilet in that room didn’t work and the shower door was broken. The elevator and drinks machine were out of order, too. Staying in an old monastery could be magical, but only if it’s kept in good condition. Otherwise it makes no sense, especially for a four-star hotel.

The hotel served a good breakfast, but it needs maintenance. Our bathroom wasn’t as clean as it should have been, the bathroom extractors didn’t work, there was no air conditioning, and there were no water bottles. We mentioned these issues in the lobby for them to consider in the future. We booked through booking after seeing the four-star rating and photos that made it look suitable for a stopover. The total was 190€ for one night, and with paid parking the night came to 200€. There’s no parking at the hotel, and I don’t think the price matched the quality. They should consider lowering the rating to three stars at most. For now, we don’t plan to stay here again.

The room was spacious, very simple, and just like the pictures. The location was brilliant and practical for seeing Dijon on foot. The pillows were too firm and high for us, and the pillowcase didn’t fit properly. We told reception about a missing blanket, but no one got back to us to say where the second one was. There was no cleaning during our stay, and you have to put your own bins outside before leaving if you want to avoid a fine. Breakfast was okay, though there are plenty of places outside the property in the same price range.
