Hôtel du Dauphin

The staff were friendly, and the location was perfect. The room was small but comfortable. The bathroom was tiny and not good, and the central heating only worked at night.

The rooms were small but very clean, and you could hear the neighbors. The staff were lovely and helpful, and the hotel itself felt cozy with a great location. A nice spot for a short stay in Lyon.

Breakfast was a real plus. I need gluten-free food, and the hotel made sure there was gluten-free bread along with other choices like eggs and fruit. The staff were also great before I arrived: since I was coming after their staffed hours, they sent keypad codes the day before and explained which train and subway routes to take, including how the cost compared with a taxi. My room was large, with a double bed, and I’d come back as a solo traveler. Just be aware there’s no air conditioning, only fans. I was there during one of Lyon’s hottest summer weeks, so that was tough. The bathroom was very small, really just for one person, and had little space for toiletries. I used the desk just outside the bathroom door for my things.

We could hear mice or rats moving around while we were trying to sleep, and they ate some packaged food we’d left in the room. The payment was also handled badly, and we were charged more than we owed. The room photos are misleading too, the rooms are incredibly small. A really awful stay. Don’t go here.
