Hôtel Altica Bordeaux Mérignac

The bed and bedding were super, and the receptionist was polite and helpful, though it was clear she had no say over charges. There were too many problems for that to make up for the stay. Self check-in was abysmal: four customers couldn't get the screen to work properly, and when we finally managed, we waited outside in minus 4 degrees for ten minutes for the access code. That's totally unacceptable. The coffee machine also wouldn't take cards. I arrived at 2pm, but reception didn't open until 5pm. My uncle, my little dog and I had booked one twin room, which was too small, so I asked about adding a room at 5pm. They wanted nearly 10€ more than the first room because it was later in the day, and protesting got me nowhere. I was also shocked to find a major fire door propped open throughout my stay. After Grenfell in the UK and the nightclub fire on New Year's Eve in Switzerland, I found that horrifying. I won't use this hotel again.

Had a great night, and the bed was comfortable. Guillaume was really attentive in the morning, and breakfast was lovely. Thank you.

The room and bathroom were tiny, and there was mold inside both. The bedding was hard and scratchy, so sleeping wasn't comfortable. This needs proper upkeep, repairs for the wear and tear, and mold treatment instead of just painting over it. The staff were nice, and there's a big free parking lot. I wouldn't recommend staying until it's maintained. It feels unsafe to remain for more than a few hours, especially for anyone sensitive to allergens.

We slept so well in a modern, clean, quiet and very comfortable room, right up until it was time to head to the airport for our very early flight. It's only four minutes away by car.
