Le M & Spa Bordeaux Aéroport by Hôtels & Préférence

Not a good experience. On Sunday everything was shut after 10h, there was no coffee at the hotel, and the isolated location meant there was nothing to eat from 10h onwards. The single beds were the smallest I’ve ever seen.

It was surprisingly quiet despite being close to the airport, even with the window open. The hotel looks smart and modern from outside, but the rooms and interior areas badly need upgrading. My room was spacious, with a kitchenette, a large work area, and a big but soft bed. The armchair was so low that working at the desk was difficult. The bathroom also needs an update. The shower was either burning hot or cold, with barely any water pressure. Breakfast at the on-site restaurant had a good variety. I didn’t have dinner there, so I can’t comment on that. The on-site bar has a good selection of drinks. It’s near the airport and right next to tram line A, which goes straight into the centre.

The reception staff were kind and helpful, which isn’t always the case in France, and the rooms were nice and clean. I’d come back if I needed to stay in Bordeaux. Getting to the centre is easy on line A. I’d read some unenthusiastic reviews, but I have to disagree.

The service was nice, and the rooms are pretty big, which is the only real plus. The interior feels old and worn out, with damaged furniture, holes in the door, and a cracked mirror. There are also odd rules: you can be fined for leaving trash, and you have to wash your own dishes. I haven’t come across rules like that at hotels in the other countries I’ve visited.
