Hotel Claude Bernard Saint Germain

The location is great and the shower had good pressure and hot water, though it was tricky to keep the water from splashing everywhere. The rooms looked clean but felt a bit antique. Free coffee, lemonade, and gummies were a nice touch, but didn't make up for the rest of the stay. We booked two rooms, both tiny, with showers and no bathtubs. The walls were paper thin: I could hear someone sighing in the next room, toilet sounds, and people on the stairs, which sounded like an army marching. The elevator dings whenever someone calls it and it arrives. Daytime staff were helpful, but the night duty lady was clueless and not helpful at all. There was also construction right next door, making daytime rest impossible. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep. The shower temperature and pressure worked well, but it was hard not to soak everything. Good value for the money, but don't forget those earplugs.

We're staying on the fourth floor, and taking the stairs hasn't been bad at all. The elevator is unusually small, just big enough for one person and a piece of luggage. If you're claustrophobic, the stairs might suit you better, and they're good exercise if you're up for it. The hotel is in the 5em arrondissement, the Latin quarter, and Notre Dame and Jardin de Luxembourg are within walking distance. We checked in today, and it's been an amazing hotel so far. There's coffee in the lounge and candy for the kids.

The balcony looks out toward Notre Dame cathedral. It's central, near the Sorbonne, and kept clean and discreet. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of variety.

Our family of four had the quadruple room, and there was plenty of space. It was spotless and well equipped. The hotel is well placed for cafes, shops, restaurants, and the metro. It's a great hotel, and we hope to come back one day!
