Residhotel Impérial Rennequin

Book breakfast the day before if you want it. We stayed four nights in a ground floor apartment, and it was unbelievably peaceful at night. The room was clean, and the staff and services were great.

The rooms are really spacious for Paris, though the showers and a few other things could use a more modern look. The neighborhood, le Quartier, is charming and quiet, and it felt safe. Metro and RER make it easy to get around Paris.

The breakfasts were lovely, with fresh yogurt and croissants delivered every morning. We also wound up using and loving both the kitchenette and the balcony, even though we hadn't expected to. The room was comfortable and spacious, and the air conditioning was excellent. For the price, this hotel and its staff are a hidden gem. We'll definitely book again.

The area is quiet and safe, and the metro is five minutes away. The hotel itself earned one star from me, only because there isn't a zero option. Service was practically nonexistent, with everything left to a front desk employee who couldn't do much. I arrived Saturday afternoon, unpacked, and put my valuables in the room safe. The elevator had already been out for almost two weeks. When I got back around 10 pm, the safe wouldn't open. The code was right, but the latch was stuck, so my laptop, IDs, medication, and money were inaccessible. There was no one on site and the front desk was closed. Nobody answered the listed phone number. I left a voicemail and called the emergency number, only to reach a remote service in Grenoble, far from Paris. I spent money calling from my US phone and was told someone would call or email me. Neither happened. The same thing continued Sunday. The attendant turned up with breakfast around 10:30 am instead of 8:30. I explained how urgent it was, but he couldn't help or reach management. Apparently the residence hotel just shuts down for the weekend. On the third day, someone finally came on site and said a technician would arrive in a few minutes to open the safe. Half an hour later, nobody had come. I went to the office and found the attendant and manager carrying on with no urgency. I threatened to call the police and file a complaint, and then a technician was in my room minutes later. By then, my whole weekend was lost. I hadn't been able to take my medication and had run out of money. This place runs like a bank, if you have a problem you wait until the next business day. I wouldn't recommend it even if it were free. Stay away and find a proper hotel.
