Appartement L'Ill au Sable

The noise from next door was awful. My room was at the far end of the hall, with what seemed like a paper-thin wall between it and the neighboring room. Two different groups kept me awake: first there were loud arguments and sex, then screaming kids bouncing around. After the children settled down, their dog was left whining, barking, and scratching at their door. Maybe I was just unlucky, but the guests seemed unusually rude and noisy. The rooms were clean, though quite small, and the staff were lovely. The location is incredible. Breakfast wasn't great, but at least there was something. My last morning also started with a false fire alarm at 9am, which was certainly exciting.

We had the three-person room, with one double and one single bed. It was a bit tight on space, but perfectly fine, and the air conditioning handled the 37°C heat outside well. Coffee, croissants, and fruit were available all day in the breakfast room. A friendly, clean, comfortable little hotel in a superb spot, and very good value.

We found the staff really helpful. The room was small, but cleverly arranged, and since we pack light we managed to make it work with a bit of planning. The bathroom was compact too, especially the shower, and that was the main reason I gave four stars instead of five. The location is lovely, just off the island: near enough to reach the markets in a few minutes on foot, but far enough from the crowds and their noise.

A tiny French hotel, and the room really is micro-sized. The staff were lovely, and breakfast was okay. Just skip the scrambled eggs, they were a disaster. Otherwise, a nice stay.
