The room and bathroom were clean and fine until people arrived in the rooms next door. We could hear more than doors and conversations, even the bed springs next door. It was impossible to sleep. Everything else was good.
There wasn't enough toilet paper, and the toilet and shower were tiny. The sinks were almost too small to wash your hands in, and the bed was small for two. Walls were very thin, doors really loud.
The room was pretty good for the price, though the plugs were a bit far from the bed. The reception staff were very nice, and my housemates were quiet enough that I barely even ran into them. I knew towels had to be rented before travelling, which seemed a bit strange, so I brought my own. I'm not used to shared bathrooms, but the lack of cleanliness really disappointed me. The floor was covered in mud, there was no toilet paper, and all the hooks and surfaces were far from the shower. Reception gave us more paper and acknowledged that this house had been left without a restock before. At least the shower worked well. It was a mixed experience.
The room had enough space for our things, the location was good and not too far from the city centre, and the staff were really nice. The bathroom and corridor, though, smelled awful. The bathroom was tiny, rather dirty, and the shower swung between too hot and too cold. We couldn't open the window anymore, so the room got kind of damp. Thin walls meant we heard everything in the building and outside. Since we were on the first floor, anyone on the street could look right in unless we kept the blinds shut. The rooms are okay, but most of the rest didn't meet our expectations. If you can, pay a bit more and stay somewhere else.
A quiet place, near bus stops, shops, and restaurants. The room was spacious and clean, and the shared facilities were tidy and organized. Toiletries, coffee, and tea were free at reception, though towels weren't. We had a great stay, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere in Edinburgh.
