We were looking forward to lunch at House of Gods Restaurant after shopping, but the visit was underwhelming. The Sacred Garden Restaurant looks atmospheric on the website, yet the floor-to-ceiling glass made it feel like sitting in a fish bowl. The view was just nearby rooftops and a multi-storey car park. The welcome was friendly enough, and we were shown to a table and ordered drinks. The table wobbled badly. I asked one server for something to put under its foot and they never came back. I asked the person who brought the drinks, with the same result, so before the food arrived I used a folded napkin to steady it. There were plenty of appealing tapas-sized dishes on the menu, and the prices were reasonable. The food itself was very mediocre, though. The prawn and chorizo dish was bland, and the pork belly really tough. The beef short rib croquettes were tasty, and my wife liked the blue cheese doughnut. We were there for about 50 minutes. We rarely skip a bottle of wine with a meal, but knew we wouldn't be staying long enough to share one. I also dislike restaurants adding a tip automatically. I'll tip according to the service we receive. I can't recommend House of Gods Sacred Garden. It doesn't live up to the website or hype, and there are better restaurants nearby.

We arrived on 27th January from our home in France for a Christmas and New Year get-together with our families. From the welcome and glass of prosecco to being shown to our suite on the fourth floor, the service was faultless. Our host John, part of a superb management team, showed us around the fantastic room. The hotel decor was very tasteful, and the staff looked after us throughout, treating us like king and queen. On a cold January day in Glasgow, the rooftop bar was a lovely place for a drink and city views. It was a short visit to Scotland, but we'll absolutely return to this most welcoming hotel.

The food was delicious and the drinks were spot on. We came in for post-festive drinks with my best friend, and from the moment we arrived we felt really well looked after. Kat was on the door and was so lovely, full of kindness. That same warm mood carried through the room and all the servers. A fabulous evening, much love and thanks.

We were put off as soon as we entered the room by a strange, musty smell. The room and bathroom were tiny, and looked nothing like the photos. At the rooftop bar, the staff came across as rude and abrupt. We were also told there would be free parking, but there was none, so we had to pay overnight. I booked for my girlfriend and me, but we definitely won't stay here again or recommend it.

The rooftop bar is gorgeous, with lovely city views and Christmas decorations hanging overhead. We went with friends who were excited to see it, and the atmosphere was great, with efficient, friendly service. There was a fire at the rooftop building beside us, so we had to evacuate from the fifth floor. Everyone was safe, and the staff and fire service handled it brilliantly. I hope everyone nearby is okay and the building hasn't been badly damaged. On an earlier visit, I finally got to try the House of Gods after wanting to for ages. Online bookings were full, so I called and a lovely woman found us space downstairs in the bar from 4 to 6pm. The room felt like stepping onto a 1920s film set, with deep reds, browns and golds, and huge sparkling Christmas trees. Our twirl seat was perfect for people-watching, while the DJ played upbeat classic soul and kept the place buzzing. The drinks looked beautiful and tasted just as good. I had a strawberry daiquiri, my friend tried a Turkish delight that was delightfully strong, and we also sampled the Spanish beer on tap. Staff were warm, attentive, and even took photos for us. Just as we were about to leave at six, a cancellation meant we could keep the table. Every corner is stunning. I loved the line, "in order to know virtue we must firstly aquaint ourselves with vice". It suits the place's decadent, playful, vibrant feel, where light and dark both get celebrated. Even the toilets were memorable, with hanging blossom trees, mirrors and a velvet wine couch. It's a bit of a splurge, but honestly worth it. Magical, full of life, and I'm looking forward to bringing friends who are keen to see this gem. Loved it.
