Earlsmere Guesthouse Hull

The room was dated but clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff seemed pleasant once they’d checked us in. What put me off was the smell of smoke and weed, along with people slamming doors and chatting in the corridors late at night. It looks like a doss house. I wouldn’t go back. There are much better places for the same price, with a full English breakfast.

We really enjoyed the cooked breakfast, and there were plenty of other choices too, including cereal. The room was clean and comfortable, with some very nice tea, coffee and biscuits. The owners were warm and welcoming, and helpful with suggestions for places nearby. The location is handy, close to both town and Princes Ave. My partner and I had a lovely stay and will definitely be back.

I visited years ago when the original owners were still managing the place. The new management have kept the same level of customer service and left things much as they were, but they haven’t updated the hotel to meet newer standards. The bed was old and creaked every time you moved. The shower and toilet were old too, and the shower wasn’t satisfactory.

We dropped our son off at Hull University and stayed here on Saturday night. The bedroom was clean, bright and airy, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We walked about a mile to Wing's for dinner. The food was fantastic, with Indian, Chinese, Malaysian and Italian options, and you could eat as much as you liked for £13.95. Great value. We’ll be back.
