Ruadh Balmeanach in Balmeanach

Mornings brought lovely views, rabbits and sheep, just what we needed to soak up Skye. The Ruadh is a warm, welcoming house with a high level of care in the details and everything well provided. We enjoyed making family meals in the fully equipped kitchen, watching a film beside the fire and playing games in the snug.

We were eight people staying over Hogmanay, and the layout suited us brilliantly. There was room for everyone to gather in the large communal spaces, as well as smaller cosy corners for quiet time. The bedrooms were roomy, with nice towels and toiletries, quality bedding and comfortable mattresses. The kitchen and living areas worked well for hosting, and the location is stunning. The house was spotless, cosy and thoughtfully decorated, with a Christmas tree and decorations that made it feel like home. It was exceptionally well equipped, everything worked, and using it all was straightforward. The welcome basket of basic supplies was especially appreciated after travelling. We’ve stayed in lots of Airbnbs that weren’t set up well for their guest numbers, but this one had plenty of space and was perfect for our group. Kyle was a fantastic host. Two of our cars broke down during the trip, and he went out of his way to help, got his mechanic friend to have a look, and even offered us extra accommodation if we needed it. That took a lot of stress off us, and we were so grateful. He was welcoming and helpful while still giving us privacy. After a cold, wet New Year’s Day walk, the log fire and underfloor heating were a real treat. We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful home and would highly recommend it.

We felt at home as soon as we arrived, and the house had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay. I was there with my boyfriend’s family, and we all loved it. The place was cosy, beautifully cared for and clearly put together with a lot of attention to even the smallest details. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would love to return. It deserves every bit of praise.

The views from the house were amazing. Inside, it was spotless and so well equipped that the host had thought of far more than we would have expected. Compared with other places we’ve stayed, it was on a whole different level. We had a great stay and would highly recommend it.
