We stayed as a couple over Valentine's weekend and loved how central it was, with shops, restaurants and local sights all an easy walk away. My room was spotless and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. There was a mini fridge, water, coffee machine, tea, coffee and hot chocolate, plus shower gel and shampoo for the luxurious deep bathtub. The Grade 2 listed building has plenty of character and period charm, though the old, worn windows, uneven floors and steep winding original stairs may not suit anyone with mobility difficulties. We didn't mind those quirks, which added to the charm. It can get chilly because you can't control the room temperature, even though there are radiators. The chiming clock tower sounds every 15 minutes, and nearby bars and restaurants can be noisy until around 2am. We're both deep sleepers, so it didn't bother us much, and earplugs are thoughtfully provided. The hotel is unmanned, with self check-in and check-out through a key deposit box. Housekeeping is around daily, and telephone numbers are provided if you need help, so I can't comment on staff friendliness. I'd highly recommend City Rooms to anyone visiting Leicester.

The setting at the city rooms is beautiful, and the food was delicious. The service and atmosphere made the day special, with everyone friendly, supportive and genuinely happy for us. Ash, Izzy and Aisha were all lovely and so helpful. Izzy deserves a special thank you for going out of her way to make everything possible and run smoothly. We were grateful for all her effort. We couldn't have asked for more and would highly recommend the venue for its lovely setting and especially its caring staff.

The suites are spacious, clean and comfortable, and I love how the beautiful hotel blends old English building style with a modern look. The heating is my only issue: you can't control it, and the grade 2 building's single-glazed windows mean it can get quite cold.

My friend and her husband wouldn't normally treat themselves to something like this, and she later told me it made her day. I booked the Christmas afternoon tea for them as a surprise on 14 December 2025. She said the beautiful venue, food and service were outstanding, and the experience felt truly special. I'd thoroughly recommend it as a treat for someone special. Thanks to all the staff.

The rooms were beautiful, the venue excellent, and the staff and bartenders fantastic. My partner and I had a great time at the wedding reception. The big drawback was the heat: for a summer wedding, there was no air conditioning, and I was sweating from start to finish, completely drenched as if I'd run through a shower. I'd recommend coming at a cooler time of year.
