The Grand Central Hotel

I really enjoyed both Dermot Kennedy acoustic shows here. The sound was great throughout, and the view from the upstairs balcony was stunning, though it got hot there very quickly. Where you’re sitting seems to make a difference to the airflow. I didn’t use the toilets, so can’t comment on them. It’s a beautiful, well-organised venue, and the drinks were reasonably priced. I was in the front row for the first show and everything was perfect. The second time I watched from upstairs. Apart from the heat on the upper balcony, I loved it all. 😅

We saw the Indie Experience show, which was excellent. You can see the stage from all around the standing area, and there’s a huge balcony for larger events. The venue has good acoustics and facilities, and the security team were friendly and efficient. It’s a few flights of stairs up to the stage area, where there are two bars. Bar staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks cost a little more than at nearby bars, but less than at other music venues in the area.

Security were great, friendly and not heavy-handed, and there are plenty of bogs for when you need them. Drinks were reasonably priced, very Liverpool, so plenty were flowing. I had an absolutely banging night at The Dome for the Trancecoda event in April. I love multi-tiered clubs, and the balconies looking over the main dancefloor are perfect for raving and taking pics. Looking forward to going back 🙂🙂

I can only give it two stars because the staff were professional and the building itself has great architecture. The acoustics were the worst I’ve ever experienced. We moved from the top circle, where we had a beautiful view of the stage, down to the floor, and the sound there was appalling. I know the artists we saw, so I can say without fear that the sound was bad enough to make me promise never to enter the building again.
