Leonardo Hotel Manchester Central

The staff were polite and responsive, and the manager offered us two complimentary drinks to try to make things right. He eventually brought fresh sheets too, but housekeeping had closed for the day, so we had to change the bed ourselves. We’d spilled coffee on the sheet on the first day, yet it wasn’t changed during three nights of daily room servicing. The manager said linens are changed every three days. I understand the policy, but a visibly stained sheet should have been replaced during cleaning without us having to ask. The room’s condition made us so uncomfortable that we checked out a full day early and lost 24 hours’ payment. When we left, the receptionist didn’t ask why we were going ahead of schedule. There was a large carpet stain by the entrance, and the bathroom especially felt very dated and badly in need of renovation. The shower was over a bath with an old-fashioned curtain, and water pooled on the floor whenever we showered. The sink drain was stuck, the paint was peeling, and the doors looked worn. It didn’t feel like a proper hotel, and the place seemed not to have been refurbished in a long time. We’d booked four nights at Leonardo Hotel Manchester Central for a Manchester staycation, after a fantastic visit to Leonardo Hotel Bristol City. That experience is why we chose this hotel, which made the letdown worse. The facilities here fell well short of what we expected from the Leonardo brand. The staff were courteous, but based on our stay I wouldn’t recommend it unless significant improvements are made.
