The beds were comfortable, with orthopedic mattresses, which matters most to me. Staff made us feel welcome and helped with everything. The manager even brought my mam a comfortable chair from his own flat. The cleaning staff were amazing despite being so busy, always smiling and saying hello. Our TV had a dodgy lead, but reception fixed it quickly. We had dinner at the hotel too, and the penko prawns with green vegetables were very nice. The continental breakfast was good, with healthy options and lots of hot drink choices. It’s a basic budget hotel, but thank you to all the staff, you do an incredible job.

I understand why they ask for a deposit, but being fobbed off for a month while waiting for the refund is beyond a joke. The hotel says it’s with the bank, and the bank says we need to speak to the hotel. Shocking service. I’ll never stay again and wouldn’t recommend it. I should have checked the reviews first, since others seem to be complaining about missing deposit refunds too.

Three weeks after our stay, they still had my deposit, despite telling me each time I called that it would be back in my account within five days. After those five days, they said it was with my bank. I’ve since learned the hotel hadn’t filled in the forms needed to cancel the transaction. At check-in, nobody told us that more than three people couldn’t be in a room after 8.30. We had booked for two and were just getting ready together, but staff kept knocking to tell us one person had to leave. We still don’t know how they knew we were all in there, which was odd.

I stayed here twice over the last few weeks, in two different rooms. They’re fine for a night or two, and while they could use some modernising, they were generally clean. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding spotless. Bathrooms were extremely clean too, no worse than a Travelodge or Premier Inn, so I don’t think they need updating. Showers were good with steady hot water. I didn’t use the bar, but it looked fine. If you’re going to Pink Punters, it’s directly across the road.
