ibis Northampton Centre

The stay was cheap, but I won’t be coming back. We were told parking was free when we booked, but it wasn’t, so be aware. The bed had a strange black base with a mattress topper used as the mattress. The shower screen leaked, and it was noisy at night. One night the restaurant was closed for a staff party, with little else available nearby. Guests left rubbish in front of our door when the cleaners were out. We waited 45 minutes for a pizza, only for it to be given to the wrong table. Breakfast was okay, though I would’ve liked more choice.

It’s a great spot for train travellers, just a five minute walk from the station. You can get up ten minutes before departure and still catch your train. There’s also a lovely little park next door, as shown in the video. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The only possible concern is the fire alarm tests on Fridays, but they’re brief and not too early.

The location is good and the staff are friendly, but the cleaning needed more attention. The room was really dusty and the curtains had stains. I could hear every noise from the corridor, and when someone walked or ran past it felt like they were inside the room. My window was broken too. Maintenance helped lock it so I wouldn’t get cold, but I also needed fresh air and couldn’t open it again.

The location was good, and the staff were friendly. It was clean and cheap and cheerful, and for a two star hotel it could be worse. But that may be the worst bed I’ve ever slept in. The pillow was basically nonexistent. I’ve never been so high up in a bed and still felt so low. The TV didn’t work properly either.
