The Red Lion

The room was really comfortable, and breakfast was great. It’s a lovely pub in a great spot, with a good range of food and drinks. Our meals were delicious, and Ali and the team were so welcoming and friendly. Couldn’t have asked for better service. Highly recommend :)

We booked a reunion weekend after friends recommended the Red Lion, and it lived up to that recommendation. Ali welcomed us and introduced us to Rosa Blanca, which everyone enjoyed. The menu had something for all of us, and the food was amazing. Ali took great care of the group and made sure we had what we needed. One of the best pub visits I’ve had in ages. The sticky toffee pudding was out of this world, especially if you’ve got a sweet tooth. Thanks, Ali, for looking after us all.

I’ve stayed here five times now, three while working as a contractor about an hour away and twice with my girlfriend on holiday. It’s easy to book online, the rates are cheap, and parking feels safe for contractor vans. The rooms are cosy, and the food is amazing, from starters to dessert. My favourites are the butter chicken curry and steak. There are three well-kept outdoor seating areas, and the beer and wine selection is great. The staff were incredibly friendly from my first visit and made me feel welcome every time. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels around the country, and this is one of the best for me. I’d travel at least an hour and a half to stay here while working in this part of the country.

We chose this BnB as a stopover that suited our trip to a gig in Daventry, and it turned out to be grrrrreat value. The Sunday deal was just £80 all in. The chef’s food was outstanding: a two-course roast lunch and a three-course breakfast with a full English. Staff were friendly and professional, and the manager was very helpful. Our room was charming and comfortable, a lovely place to sleep. We had the kings suite. The stairs could be an issue for some, and there’s limited headroom over the bath for anyone over six foot, though neither bothered us.
