City Studios Preston

Really handy place and a great price, so I’ll definitely come back. It’s a nice little studio with everything you need, easy to get into, and the on-site staff were lovely and helpful. There were a few small issues. The phone key wouldn’t unlock the room, but reception sorted it straight away and gave us a key card. The cups weren’t properly clean, though I always wash them before using them anyway. I noticed a mark on the sheet at bedtime; the rest of the bedding looked fresh and clean, so it didn’t worry me much. Stains happen.

I spent 14 nights at City Studios and had a very good stay. Tesco is close by and downtown is about a 10-minute walk away, which made the location really convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. It’s a great place, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The rooms are clean, the location is good, and it’s great value, but I won’t be coming back because housekeeping was so poor. Cleaning is meant to happen every seven days, yet they often missed the scheduled date because they were busy. When they did come, they changed the towels but left one behind on the trailer, didn’t empty the bin, and didn’t leave toilet paper. Most of the staff were friendly. One man at reception, though, came across as unwilling to work and unprofessional when responding.

It felt like university halls, and I wouldn’t stay here again. The first room was dirty, with dead flies scattered over the floor and furniture, including the bed, and more flies on the ceiling. The surfaces hadn’t been cleaned, and the floor hadn’t been vacuumed or mopped. The second room was a little better because there weren’t dead flies, but the floor was still dusty and dirty. One of the clean towels had someone else’s long hair in it.
