My parents’ Golden wedding anniversary gathering was a good day in some ways, and the staff were nice and helpful, but I’d avoid this venue in future. It was dated and clearly needed work, and the costs felt like a rip-off. The food was very poor. I found a shard of metal in mine, and the sandwiches we thought would be cheese and ham were actually chunks of butter and ham. The food shown in the pictures cost my parents £700. They were also charged another £45 to bring cupcakes that a family member had made, even though the venue did nothing to make or present them. Taking a cake would have cost £2.50 per person just to cut it. Outside, the tables needed cleaning and had sharp edges that weren’t safe for young children. We even saw slug trails on the inside walls and carpets. Crofters, I feel you ripped my parents off. If that’s what it takes to bring in cash, it’s disgusting, and perhaps it’s a blessing you’ll be closing in the coming months.

A brilliant hotel, with clean rooms, lovely outdoor seating and great staff. The location’s perfect for exploring the North West.

The steak and kidney pudding was lovely and wasn’t soggy, but the food needs work overall. For the prices, they should serve home-cooked chips instead of horrible oven chips. The rice pudding didn’t taste homemade. Staff were friendly.

The staff were friendly and breakfast was good, but at £85 for a double room with B&B, I didn’t think it was worth it. I slept poorly because you could hear everything, from doors and footsteps to people talking in the next room. The decor is old and not up to much. I waited over four minutes for the shower to get hot, then the temperature kept swinging between warm and scalding. For what you get, I’d put a more realistic price at about £45-£50.

The staff were friendly, the bar was great, and the rooms were comfortable. My only gripe was that the full English breakfast wasn’t enough.
