The Pilgrim Inn

It’s in a handy spot for both Beaulieu museum and Southampton. The rooms are cosy without feeling cramped, and nicely equipped. Everyone at the Inn and the adjoining pub, where breakfast is served, was very friendly. The pub has loads of atmosphere and good conversation, so do stop for a drink and a bite.

I’m a regular at The Pilgrim, and my family stay at the hotel when they visit from abroad. It’s always great. Today we went to see Santa, who took his time with the children, showed them the nice list in his book, posed for photos, and handed out presents. He was lovely, and we got amazing pictures, better than at a much pricier Santa visit. Great value, and we’ll be back next year. Thank you :) One thought: it’d be good to have Santa in a separate tent or area so the covered outdoor space could still be used. It was raining and the pub was so busy that we couldn’t stay for a drink. We still enjoyed it, though.

The room was clean and had all the facilities, including a coffee pod machine, kettle, tea and coffee supplies, free biscuits, an iron and board, bath and shower, a large TV, and free WiFi. There’s a big free car park and a nice pub attached. Breakfast was the letdown. It doesn’t start until 0730, with no earlier option. Given where the hotel is, I’d expect lots of people to head to work before then. I had to be on site by 0800, so I couldn’t eat. Even a cold breakfast option would have been enough, but there was nothing. Disappointing.

The room was very comfortable and clean, the meals were good, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It’s close enough to Southampton ports for a cruise, which made this an excellent place to stay. I’d highly recommend it and will definitely return.
