Hotel Santorini

The hotel emailed a few days before our stay to ask about arrival details and offer a transfer option, and the service was very good. It’s about 50 metres from the bus station. They left a bottle of water in the room, which also had a fridge, and the air conditioner cooled it quickly. There’s a free continental breakfast too.

The front desk was nice, but the rooms were terrible. Our room had no hot water in winter, the floors and beds were dirty, and the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. I asked the cleaner, Sophie, to do the floor again. She laughed, found a broom, and swept up so much dirt, but only around the entrance and not across the whole room. The bathroom was tiny, with a shower so small that even I, a skinny person, struggled to keep water from flooding the place. There was mould everywhere, and I had to clean the shower myself. DONT come here.

I was there for three days and had a few problems. Breakfast was meant to run from 8:00 to 10:00 AM, but when I went down around 9:30, most of the food was gone and wasn’t replenished. The privacy issue was also uncomfortable: the housekeeper came into my room without knocking just to change the towels. On my last day I was a little late checking out, and her attitude was as if she were the hotel manager. The front desk staff, on the other hand, were very polite and cooperative. I think the hotel needs to improve its privacy, staff attitude, and food service.

Before I’ve even arrived, they’ve told me I won’t be able to use the private pool at the Caldera Suite during my stay, and that there’ll be no housekeeping. I booked that suite for the pool. They said I could cancel without a charge, so I did, but now they won’t refund my $2000.00. I’m on disability and my friend has cancer. This was our last hoopla, and because of this we can’t afford to book somewhere else.
