Romantic Spa Resort

The pool was clean, and the basic rooms were clean too, with a fridge and balcony. Staff were friendly and helpful, and let us leave our luggage until late on our departure day. The location is a little farther from central Fira town, and you have to walk along the street, but it’s still a nice place to stay.

The room itself was clean, and there was a bottle of water waiting for us. The driver arranged through the hotel was very polite too. But the night was exhausting. Around 11 p.m. we could hear the person next door snoring, then a couple in another room talked quietly past midnight until morning. We heard the whole conversation because the walls are so thin, along with their bathroom visits and repeated thumps and furniture-like scraping. At least they were only chatting, we joked, rather than making more romantic noises. There was a TV but no remote. A note on the mirror warned that each towel used to remove makeup would cost ten euros. When we left in the morning, the receptionist asked my girlfriend for fifty cents for taxes. She only had a twenty-euro note, and when the receptionist sent her to ask me, I had no coins either, so she had to go back and explain. We booked this budget place for the first night of our three-night Santorini stay because our flight arrived late. It was disappointing, and the lack of sleep made the next day rough. Maybe we were unlucky, and quieter neighbours would have let us sleep more, but with walls this thin I wouldn't suggest it for light sleepers. I wouldn't recommend it.

We had a really cozy room and a lovely balcony, and the owner was so friendly. He knows Santorini inside out and happily told us about places to visit, shops, bus stops, and all sorts of useful things. We asked the day before about a ride from the port to the hotel, and he quickly arranged it. I'd definitely stay here again if I return.

The views outside are the romantic part, with those huge island vistas to sit and enjoy. Inside, the bedroom had plenty of room, but the toilet area was tiny and the shower was right beside you. I wrestled with the curtain more than once. Some of the photos used to research the hotel don't quite match what you find. I only stayed two days, so it was manageable for that length of time. For a longer visit I'd spend more and find somewhere in central Fira. I didn't hire a quad or car, though I recommend doing so, since the island is small enough to cross in a day by vehicle and taxis can be a hassle.
