Thea Luxury Resort

We spent five days here, and the stay was deeply disappointing. The accommodation for four offered no privacy, with no door or divider between the bedroom and the living area where the other two beds were. We repeatedly had to ask for cleaning and fresh towels, and the water kept getting cut off. When we raised these legitimate issues, we felt like a nuisance. Staff blamed the municipality or cleaning agency, but didn’t seem to take the situation seriously or work to resolve it. They never checked on us proactively, showed little compassion, and offered no gesture for the days when the service wasn’t provided. We paid more than €1,100 and the water problems and lack of service seriously disrupted our plans. They just wanted our money, with no sense of hospitality. I recommend booking elsewhere. There were two positives: our port transfer was on time, and the staff were friendly on the first day.

The only good service came from the room maid. We stayed seven nights, three adults, and were very disappointed. The breakfast was a poor man's meal, with no buffet like the reviews had led us to expect. They should have stated that there was no buffet breakfast from 1.10. The hotel is called Thea Luxury Resort, but there was no luxury at all and it was no resort. Getting to town was a long way, and we had to walk past rubbish, with lots of plastic bottles lying around. We booked airport transfers, but the driver was 30 minutes late and didn’t apologize. He was arrogant and unfriendly. The management never responds to messages. We won’t recommend this hotel to any guest.

The price is fairly low, and it’s about a 20-minute walk to Fira centre. But the road felt dangerous, dogs kept barking, and there were no street lights, so we had to use our phone lights. Check-in was very late, around 4:30 pm. The staff told us to wait outside, and we sat there sweating for almost two hours. We paid extra for two more people but got no extra pillows or towels, and no extra service. The room wasn’t cleaned and towels weren’t changed for two days. The air conditioner kept switching on and off even though we hadn’t opened any windows or doors at night. They said the windows had sensors. After swimming, we put a towel on the floor. A staff member came to fix the air conditioning, told us to pick up the towel and keep it white, and kept shaking his head. We felt like staff, not guests, and were treated with no respect. The stairs in the room were very steep and slippery, and my child hurt their back on them. They need to be treated with caution. The toilet smelled. This is the first time I’ve left a bad comment, but it felt necessary.

The location is about 15 minutes from Fira Square, one of the few things in the room listing that turned out to be accurate. The service was terrible, and the room experience was worse. We booked a three-bedroom apartment with a private pool. It wasn’t really a pool, more like a small jacuzzi, and it couldn’t be used because it was only half full and a crack was leaking. They said they’d fix it the next day. Two days later, they told us it wouldn’t be fixed at all. By the end of our stay, we learned it had been broken for weeks. The hotel didn’t warn future guests, even though a review from 10 months earlier mentioned the same problem. If you booked a villa with a private pool, cancel unless you’re willing to argue and still get nothing done. They said we should have requested a refund and left to find somewhere else, but I wasn’t told that was an option until our last day. I would have appreciated compensation for paying extra for a pool we couldn’t use, but they offered nothing. The air conditioner was also unreliable, running for a minute and then stopping for two, all night. In 25-degree humid weather, it was torture. I told them the next morning, and 15 hours later it still wasn’t fixed. They blamed me for not reporting it. It was sorted a few hours after I reminded them, following a night in a hot, humid room. I understand repairs can take a few hours, but waiting a day, or never getting an issue fixed, when it was already there before arrival is disappointing. Manager Alex couldn’t make the 20m walk to our room to discuss the problems during our three-day stay, even though we complained every night. He left us to talk to Michael on the night shift, who was too junior to do anything. None of the reception staff seemed interested in guests. Based on past reviews, they have no idea how to handle frustrated guests dealing with poor facilities. A little compensation can go a long way in hospitality, but this hotel doesn’t seem to understand that. Honestly, such a terrible experience, with so much false representation. We were told that if we were upset, we could ask for a refund and leave, but that only came up on the last day.
