Golden East

The pool is heavenly, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast is generous. Service was outstanding, too. We liked being able to unwind away from a busy town while still being a few minutes’ walk from one of my favourite high-up caldera viewpoints and Imerovigli. The village has lovely cafes, bars, and restaurants, and feels much quieter than Fira. A great place to enjoy Santorini and relax. We’ll certainly come back!

The staff were helpful and the service was good, and it’s a very quiet place with nice rooms. Getting around is the issue: it’s only accessible by car and quite far from the nearby town, so I wouldn’t recommend it for a short stay or for someone without a car. I also wish they provided printed details about what you can reach on foot and how to get to the caldera and sunset walkway.

The room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels and sheets, and they left bread, jams, coffee, and tea each time. It was great value, with lovely owners who were always keen to help. They even supplied a Greek mobile phone for ordering taxis or food. The sunrise views and pool area are lovely, and there’s plenty of parking for a car or ATV. It’s a five-minute walk to the other side of the island for Volcano caldera views, and about 15 minutes on foot to Imerovigili. There’s no hob or shared cooking area, so self-catering is limited.

The pool was the highlight, with a great sea view. The complex is fairly central, and by car you can reach Oia, Fira, Perissa, and Kamari Beach in about 20 minutes. We spent a fortnight here in August 2021, and I can confirm all the positive comments: the place is clean and tidy, and hostess Nataly and her family are constantly looking after guests with real friendliness and helpfulness. They have plenty of contacts and can arrange car or yachting tours straight away. If I could, I’d give it 100 stars. Thank you, Nataly!
