The staff were super nice, and the rooms were clean with a warm shower, which isn’t always easy to find across Guyanas. The restaurant was pretty mediocre, and there aren’t many places to eat nearby. Still, it’s a decent choice for a night or two in Georgetown.

After 45 years away from my home country, I hoped for a much better stay. I left extremely disappointed, and I usually don’t write reviews, but this experience made me want to share what happened. For $150 a night, the poor condition and lack of basic amenities felt grossly overpriced. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel, and I’d tell people to save their money and stay elsewhere. The mattress was stained and appeared to show evidence of previous guests’ sexual activity. I complained, but staff didn’t replace it. After checkout, I saw the cleaning person make the bed for the next guest using the same dirty mattress cover. The bathroom sink was clogged and unusable for my whole stay, and the room I got didn’t match how the hotel was represented online. There was no elevator, so I had to carry my luggage upstairs. The person who checked us in was extremely rude and brushed off our complaints, saying he was too busy. It was one of the worst experiences of my life.

The staff seemed okay, and White castle fish shop is nearby. It’s also within walking distance of stabroek market. Those were the main positives for my three-night stay at Millenium Manor in September 2024. I wouldn’t stay there again, as the facilities weren’t worth the price. Room 7, on the first floor, was reached by steep stairs. It felt worn out and smelled musty. Air freshener seemed to cover the smell at first, but it wore off. The tired brown carpet needs replacing; floor tiles and a rug would be better, and a couple of pictures might help with how drab the room looks. The bedding was old and stained, so I was glad I’d brought my own sheet and pillowcases after a bad experience at another GT hotel. There was a microwave and fridge, but no kettle. One window pane was cracked, the washbasin had no plug, and the toilet seat shifted when I sat down. The shower curtain was stained, and I didn’t use the hairdryer because its wiring seemed suspect. The AC and ceiling fan worked, though a couple of bulbs weren’t working properly. I didn’t have breakfast, so I can’t comment on it.

I’ve stayed here four times, and the location is convenient, about a 10-minute walk from Starbroek market. It’s fairly priced, the staff are friendly, service is good, and there are minibus and taxi options. The proprietor seems honest and makes sure guests’ needs are met. On my last visit, a booking problem was sorted out quickly and in my favor. For a three-star hotel, you get what you pay for, so don’t expect five stars. There’s no lift, though the stairs are wide and easy to use, and ground-floor rooms are available. The rooms are comfortable and clean, with a safe. The AC cools well, showers have good pressure and hot water, and there’s a mini fridge. Some rooms also have a microwave. Breakfast is basic but fairly okay. One concern from my stay on 9-11 August 2024: daily housekeeping has to be requested, and I don’t think the sheets had been changed because I saw hair on them that wasn’t mine. If sheets aren’t changed for new guests, that’s unacceptable. I’m sure management would address it if they saw this comment.

I’d read the bad reviews, but after staying here with my family a few days ago, I didn’t find it bad at all. We came from Canada. The room was fine inside, and the washroom was clean. The AC gets very cold once you know how to control it. Breakfast came right to our room: sweet fruit and bread with corned beef or plantains. The area isn’t great, though it’s not bad inside the hotel. The only reason I’m giving four stars is the lack of an elevator. I was on the first floor, so it wasn’t too bad, and the manager helped carry the suitcases upstairs.
