The Figo

We spent nearly a month at The Figo, and it felt like home. Getting around Hong Kong was easy from this convenient location, and the hospitality was consistently warm and genuine. Happy hour became one of our favorite routines, especially for our young son, who loved the board games and extra treats. The hotel was thoughtful toward both adults and young families. Thanks especially to manager Ms Apple, who let us check out late to fit our late evening flight. That small gesture meant a lot and reflected the care and flexibility throughout the stay. We’d happily return and recommend The Figo for a comfortable, friendly stay in a good location.

The neighborhood is quiet and nice, though a little out of the way, and it’s easy to walk to the mid-levels area. The hotel has lovely design, and the rooms come with great amenities. Service was friendly and helpful. It’s expensive, but in line with similar options in Hong Kong.

I liked the location, the lobby and room design, how clean the hotel was, the great view, and the polite staff. The main reason I’d rate it 4.5/5 stars is the lift maintenance. Every day at 10:30am, without fail, one lift was being maintained. Guests and cleaning crews were inconvenienced, and with the lift so tiny, people crowded to use the remaining one, often waiting 5 mins or more. For anyone arriving, use Exit A2 at Sai Ying Pun. Don’t follow Google Map to Sheung Wan, which is a terrible choice: it means an uphill walk and several busy roads to cross from Sheung Wan station.

The beds were firm, with nice pillow options, and we got a lovely upgrade to a suite on the top floor, 21. We booked direct with the hotel for 4 nights. It was good value. The happy hour was generous, with beer, wine, some basic spirits and mixers, juice, soft drinks, and a few snacks. There’s also a nice little outdoor area on the 4th floor. There were a couple of downsides. The gym opened late, at 730am, and was basic: a dual pulley cable machine, single adjustable bench, dumbbells up to 10kg, a bike, a treadmill, an infrared sauna, and a small cold plunge. One lift was out of service the whole time. Since the building also has offices, the waits for the lift could be long. The location is decent, though restaurants are easier to find in Wan Chai or central. Both are easy to reach on foot or by tram.
