Ashoka Hostel

There are lots of food choices in the building, and it’s easy to get money exchanged nearby. The room was spacious and had all the amenities, including a hot shower and clean towels. The staff were friendly and available around the clock. I really appreciated their hospitality and generosity. Thanks for a great time!

The room was small, but that suited what I needed, and it was a good fit for the price and location. I could easily walk over to see the Victoria Harbour lights at 08:00. Staff were helpful and friendly while I was confused, though I was tired and that part was really on me. I also left my suitcase unlocked in the room and it was safe.

The rooms were clean, and this was the cheapest accommodation I found in HK. The location is great, but the rooms feel cramped and prison-like, and the old, slow elevators are a hassle. I also found the push for five-star reviews uncomfortable: they take your phone and write one for themselves, and it happened to two other friends too. I’ve never seen anything like it, lmao. At night the salespeople downstairs gave off dodgy vibes, so ignore them. Of all the hostels I’ve stayed in, this was the worst value for money, though that’s HK prices for you. It’s just somewhere to sleep, so be prepared.

The staff are extremely friendly and ready to help, and the rooms are neat and tidy. Still, I wouldn’t say this hostel suits families, especially those with children, because the rooms are narrow. It’s on the 16th floor, and there’s just one lift, usually crowded, so going down and back up for anything can take a while. There’s no food service either, which means heading down to the market can be inconvenient.
