Hotel Bara Budapest

We found the location handy, with public transport stops nearby, and the staff were very kind and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean, and nicely equipped. It was a great stay, and I'd gladly return and recommend the hotel.

It felt more like a guesthouse. The room's TV didn't work, and the Wi-Fi was very weak. I couldn't adjust the heating to my liking, and breakfast was quite cold.

I left a bag of clothes and medicine in the car park by mistake before driving toward Kurdistan. We were about three hours down the road when we noticed, so we drove all the way back expecting the bag to be gone. To my surprise, it was still there. The location seems pretty safe, and the staff are kind. The room itself was a different story: no AC, a disgusting bathroom, and hard beds that meant I didn't sleep well. The rooms are a no go for me, despite the staff and the bag still being there.

My stay had one good part: the middle-aged bald receptionist I first met helped a lot with the rate, room, and other things. That was the reason for the second star. Otherwise, it was a straight no for me. When I asked to add another night, they said they were fully booked and gave other reasons that seemed wrong, since I saw otherwise the next day. They did extend the stay and charged a fairly normal amount, but it was a horrible process. Later, when I left the room for an activity, there was an electricity problem and nobody was around to help. It ate up a lot of time, made me miss an appointment I'd booked, and cost me money as well as ruining the evening. They also insisted on moving me to another building. It was more like an old, noisy dorm and didn't seem suitable for regular hotel guests. I felt forced to go, and ended up in a very bad room for the same price as the good one. Between the difficult extension, no support during the power issue, and the delays that made me lose my booking, the experience was awful.
